Paph. Berenice (philippinense 'Dale' AM/AOS x lowii 'Eureka' AM/AOS)

That's the reverse of the standard pod/pollen parents for this cross. And it sure turned out differently from the Berenices I've seen! The lowii here is plain as day . . . but the philippinense? Maybe this is actually a Paph. Julius . . . although it still looks differently from the Julius(es?) I've seen. Your thoughts on this are welcome.

I love the petal stance and the colors. I'm not so sure about the rugged, manly chin.

I'll post more pics when all the blooms are open (5, I think).

This cross came out very well and 5 flowers at one spike flowering at the same time make it a real stunner.
Best regards from Germany, GuRu

Sue,
Nice Bernice, with all 5 open it looks more Bernice than Julius.
Say - what species of bamboo is that growing over the fence line in the background? Looks like a Phyllostachys, but in the distance I can't tell which one. Is it yours or your neighbors?

I have no idea. It's very tall and dense, but that's the most I could say.

Amusingly, there is no fence. The thing that looks like a fence-post is actually a chair with a swath of black velvet over it. I usually use that for the plants' glamor shots, but this one was too big.
