P. spicerianum

While I wait for my spicer seedlings to grow, I decided to get hold of a blooming size plant. I acquired this one in double spike, and one spike with two buds, from Hillsview Gardens in Oregon, for a modest price I might add. The staminode is a bit cockeyed, and the petals are so-so, maybe mushed in mail transit. The form isn't as nice as some of the popular clones out there, but I'm diggin' it. Leaf span is 12 inches, flower is 3.5 inches wide and tall. Here's a close-up, profile, and whole plant shot.

I'm pretty sure the cultivar of this one is 'Enraged Sarah.'

Spicerianum always seems to attract the attention of the crowds attending orchid shows. It's one of my favorite species. Great selection!

That one seems to have very darker color on the pouch than many I've seen... looks good!
