Some buds popped out this week. Exciting!

Two black leucochilums, two vietnamense (one of them a dark select from OI that has blasted 2 years in a row 🤞) and the scandalous niveum album (passed at judging last year with drama).

There will be a block party for April judging!

At least the stonei will have a support network lol.

Black leuco looks not so black even at this stage? Has it bloomed before?
I hope those vietnamense make it to open bloom finally!

Yes both bloomed last year almost solid black. The buds of these black ones don’t always have dark solid color at back of buds.

These are my selected ones from years ago. Let me find pic.

Here they are from previous blooming:

Kinda like those intensely dark red phalaenopsis where the bud isn't that dark. At least some hybrids.
What are the parents?
A French grower accuses these black leucos as hybrid with bellatulum in them to get the saturation of the dark pigments across the entire flower. The origin of these is Thailand, correct?

True!
By the way, if those vietnamense makes it to open blooming and has a good shape and color, I'd like some pollen.
I've been meaning to remake Wössner Vietnam Gold. ;)

Nah~ It will take at least two days to just fully open, but then the floral segments continue to expand over the course of a few days.
So you will lose on the size and shape.

Poor little leuco underdog... no one believes he can do it.

He might just pull through ...

The leaf in front of him, is it from another leuco? Perfect amount of silver dots! My kinda leuco leaf!
Often they are mostly just green.
