I couldn't beleive all the Orchids forr sale this year, They had alot more vendors than last year. I was very good with spending, I picked up 3 orchids.

This is Calanthe masuca From Andy's Orchids.

Oh man! I was wishing there was a new purple variety out there I didn't know about!

The Calanthe should spike in hot weather, flowering sometime in late summer or early fall. Give em lots of heat, as much as you can, but no sun. They are fertilizer hogs too. These respond a bit differently than their more northern relatives - discolor, sieboldii, etc. since they're true subtropicals.

I'm thinking I should have picked up a Bletilla at our show last weekend.
 
thanx; I think I'm really going to work on improving my handling of cyps this year. I just notice a few growths of the goodyera pubsc. today so, all is not lost out in the garden.
