Dot, I think I have about 35 species of Maxillaria.
Impressive, Ron. I am familiar with only a few, so I decided to educate myself, went to orchidspecies.com and learned there are about 650 Max. species!

Dot, yes there are an amazing number of Maxillaria species. There are many that are not worth growing. These are large and gangly with insignificant flowers. Someday, I am sure, this genus will be broken down for there are many that I do believe would be better in there own genus. There are more Maxillaria being discovered and named every year. Eric Christenson has named many of the recent ones. Many of my Maxillaria bloom this time of the year so it seems like I have more than I truely have.:rollhappy:
