Hi - I was wondering if anyone has some extra greenhouse space that they might be interested in renting out to me for the winter. Right now, I have my orchids (not a very large collection at all) outside in a little portable greenhouse, and I am unfortunately unable to take the majority of them inside. I know that I've waited to the last minute to do this, as I have a bad habit of doing! Luckily, the weather here on Long Island was been much warmer than average recently. However, it will be getting colder soon, and so I don't have much time at all to do this. Preferably, I'd like to find someone in driving distance in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region, but it's not necessary because at this point I'm desperate! Thank You!!

Hi, welcome to the forum. If your in the nassau area you can try calling this place up. It's in westbury right off jericho.

There's also this place but its probably much more pricier than hicks. Been there once.

It's in east norwich

If they can house your stuff dont forget to take pictures of your plants, inventory and a reciept.

Thanx everyone for your warm welcome.

Marco - I'm suprised (but pleasantly!) that Hicks would actually let people rent greenhouse space from them. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Heather - Who or what is Jane's?

NYEric - Cool to see a fellow NYer here! My little portable greenhouse (you can see what I have here: http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/flowerhouse-dream.shtml) would most definitely need a heater as any insulation isn't going to provide any protection when temps get into the teens and 20's. And I can't do a heater because, well it's a long story, but needless to say that's out of the question. Do you grow your orchids in your apartment?

Jason - Honestly, I don't know if they will. But it is worth a shot. Hicks's GH is pretty big and I wouldn't see why they would deny any business. Good luck and keep us posted
