For all of you that missed getting plants last spring, Jerry is coming to Europe again this Fall, so you can order some hard to find species and/or exclusive hybrids made here at Orchids Limited.

Following is a letter from Jerry:

To all our EU customers:

Once again, I am planning a trip to the EU this coming Fall, in late September 2009. I will bring plants with me as luggage, rather than being shipped separately ahead, and will ship them to your country upon my arrival, as soon as possible, so there are no delays.

We are in the process of adding many new plants to the website so make sure you take a look at the International orders section (be sure to scroll down the page to see all sections) for exciting new offerings:

CITES approved plants <http://www.orchidweb.com/orchids_cites.aspx>http://www.orchidweb.com/orchids_cites.aspx
Asian Cymbidium <http://www.orchidweb.com/images/JapChingoer.pdf>http://www.orchidweb.com/images/JapChingoer.pdf
Neofinetia <http://www.orchidweb.com/images/NeolistJune2009.pdf>http://www.orchidweb.com/images/NeolistJune2009.pdf

When placing your order via our website, please select plants that are noted “CITES-approved for export.” The deadline for placing orders is August 9, 2009. Once orders are reviewed and finalized, payment must be made in full no later than August 12. Please note: No changes can be made to orders after August 12, as we must begin preparing the required documents. It will take several weeks to process all the paperwork for a September departure. As some plants are limited in availability, you may want to order before this date to reserve stock.

Payment must be made in US dollars via credit card (American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover) or PayPal.

Since my spring trip, DEFRA (the British permit authorities) has increased their import fees per genus from £5 per genus to £59! Because of this, I must narrow my offerings to Paphiopedilums, Phragmipediums, Cattleya, and Phalaenopsis. If you are interested in any other genus, you can order those with the understanding that if not enough plants (10 plants minimum) are ordered within the total order (combining all customers), you will either have to pay the additional genus fee yourself, or if less than 10 plants are ordered by all customers combined, the fee will be divided on a per plant basis. We apologize for this inconvenience but we see no other way to proceed given the new DEFRA rules.

Once we have collected all orders, we will be in contact with you as to the status of these other genus in your order. You can then decide whether you wish to continue with that part of the order and pay the additional fee.

We require a minimum order of US$100 per customer. An additional 15% will be added to your order to cover document processing fees (CITES permits, import permit, phytosanitary certificate) and excess baggage fees. (Note: extra large plants may require extra baggage fees due to the size and weight limit on check-in luggage.)

Within the EU, we will ship via the postal service – airmail when possible – as this is the most economical. FedEx rates are much higher, however, some shipments may have to go by FedEx or other carrier if your order requires larger boxes that cannot be shipped by regular postal service. Packing and shipping charges will be billed to you when we return to the US.

If the plants you receive do not do well in the first 2-3 weeks, please notify us and send pictures by email, if possible. I assure you that we will replace those plants on one of our next visits.

If you have any questions, please email us at <mailto:eek:[email protected]>[email protected]. Thank you.
