Hello!

I recently heard about this forum and decided to take a look.
This is actually my 2nd post as I was just fishing around and
saw a picture of a BEAUTIFUL Phrag and had to say how nice
it was.

I got back into growing orchids about a year ago when I went to
the NWOS Show and Sale. I joined and have been a fairly active
participant since then. I have helped set up and break down displays
as well as set 1 up myself........OMG WHAT A CHORE!

I have some number over 100 orchids now. Mostly are slippers but I have
a few others....a couple of bulbos, pleurothallids and some cattleya hybrids.
I'm completely out of room. I grow in windowsills and under a makeshift
light set up.

I hope to learn a lot here and maybe share some of my experiences with
others who are starting out as well.

Craig

More stuff about me

I currently live in Seattle, WA.

About 25 years ago I grew orchids back in Ft Worth TX.
I grew up there and was ONLY interested in Cattleya's
at the time; especially species. However, that was short
lived as were most of the orchids I had.

Many years later I moved to Boise ID. I thought I would get
back into it there and purchased some slippers. Again a short
lived adventure.

I have now lived in Seattle for about 4 years and so my 'total' growing
experience is really about 2 to 2 1/2 years. I guess in most circles I'm
still considered a novice.

As I am typing this I have a Paph spicerianum, a Bulbophyllum Frank Smith, a Blc. Little Stars and a Paph Vanda M Pearman all in bloom. I also have another Paph spicerianum, a Paph sukhakulii, a Paph wolterianum, a Paph maudiae cross, another Paph maudiae cross (Raisin Pie and something else), a Paph Rory Jones and a Paph Satchel Paige X Paph Macabre all in bud.
(thank God I type a lot at work!)

I have been pretty active in the Northwest Orchid Society since I joined last
November. We have a great group of people and I have leard a lot from them.

I can't really think of anything else to say just now.

:)

Welcome to the forum! I have been growing for four years, and I can honestly say I don't think the novice ever wears off. Not when people keep convincing you to try growing new genera by posting spectacular photos. I hope I never lose my novice standing, because I would probably be tired of it all and take up the accordion. Or something.

My Dogs

Well, the dogs are doing great.
I am, however, at a loss as to how you know I have dogs.
You must know me better than I know you.

You'll have to give me some hints as to who you are.....

Hey Wolfdog :)

I grew up in the Seattle area, and hope that I'll be able to move back to the northwest before too long. Nice to have you at the forum :)

Wolfdog - hmm Peter Pan - hmmm Wolfeo

G'Day - my mind takes some strange twists sometimes - welcome to the forum.

Like NYeric says "Intervention group for addicts" :)

Cheers

Welcome to the forum, Craig. I just signed up a few days ago myself after having been a "lurker" for a few weeks. What clonal name did you give that Phrag. Living Fire you had awarded recently? <grin>

Edit: Craig, I just read your comments in the AOS Judging thread and realized I made a mistake above. Then I had to go into the NWOS news archives. Evidently, you garnered Best Phrag at the Spokane Show in April. It should have been an AOS award.

1) I used to talk to you on the phone when you lived in Boise.
2) you work with my brother
3) I'll probably see you at the NWOS show on Nov 4. Judging starts at 0900.

Well, if Wolfdog can't guess how you know him after all that, then he might need to switch to a stronger coffee. :)
