Hi,

I'm a college student at National Taiwan University.
I'm reading agricultural chemistry and plant pathology.

I come from Indonesia and my family owns a small orchid nursery.
I started growing orchids when I was a kid.
Began with dendrobiums, but later tried many other types as well.

My favorite paphs are Paph charlesworthii, the albino maudiae type and the mutiflora in general.

Here in Taipei, the climate is subtropical, with hot humid and rainy summers, with very cloudy and wet winters.
I'm growing the paphs both indoors and outdoors.

Besides orchids, I grow and collect other plants as well (gesneriads, carnivorous, mosses etc.)

This forum seems really fun! Hope to have a good time here. :)

Welcome to the forum!!! I guess you have a lot of experience that you could share and I think you have a lot of pictures to post...:):drool:

Thanks!! :)

My parents grow lots of different kinds.
They move to different types as our tastes change.
They began by buying LOTS of dendrobium flasks, mostly the antelope type.
But these soon grew tall canes, and we never really liked it.
So these were sold away at cheap prices.
Then my dad bought many flasks of vanda crossings and mericlones.
But these don't flourish in the cool dry weather.
Many died.

So recently we are focusing on phals, paphs and oncidiums which grow quite well in our climate.

My dad's favorites are phals, vandas and paphs.
My mum's are oncidium and the local species.
Mine are cattleyas and paphs.

Cattleyas, beautiful, and I really really love them, but difficult to maintain in good condition there.
