I have a strap leaf with a new growth growing underneath a healthy leaf. The growth is not just a simple nub anymore and is ripping through the healthy leaf. Would anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Should I just let the new growth grow right through the leaf (which I'm worried might make the new growth grow deformed. which is what happened to my den spectabile now the leaves and growth is all crooked nad slanted..yech)

or

Should I rip off the over lying leaf?

TIA

Marco,

Ehh, this happens sometimes... I always have assumed the plant knows what it's doing... it is kinda maddening, especially on a larger growth to bloom, when you want it all perfect... =)

It should not deform the new growth by ripping through a new leaf... my opinion is the same as Heather's: leave it... =)
