Just received my first flask from Sam. I ordered a flask of Paph. vietnamense and I plan on repotting it into a 4” after 24 hours with the lid off. Currently it’s in my quarantine enclosure where it stays at 75% RH and around 74F with good airflow.

great flask and very interested in your set-up.
Thank you! This set up just has a small heating pad on the bottom and a 40mm USB fan on the top. I just have to adjust the glass lid to adjust humidity and it gets natural lighting from a south facing window. Plants will typically stay in here for 2 weeks or so before I put them in the bigger enclosure. I’ve attached a picture from a month ago, so there’s quite a bit of plants in there now but it’s basically the same set up (larger heating pad, 2 fans, supplemental lighting).

Do you normally deflask this way? It is certainly an interesting way of deflasking. I guess it helps the seedling to acllimatise to the local conditions.

This is my first deflasking, so I really hope it works out. I raised the RH and plan to very slowly adjust the lid to lower the RH once they establish in their new pot

Recently deflasked and put all into a 4” pot, roots were tangled and didn’t want to tease apart so I placed the whole thing in. I also added a false bottom (packing peanuts) to the bottom of the pot after reading tips from older threads. RH will float around 80% and 75 F

This all seems interesting but holding the plants at an angle and blowing through a straw aimed directly at the crown, and then placing the plants in the wake of a muffin fan also works. This seemed the best for me as I would used water pressure to separate and rinse agar from deflasked plants.
