It's been a while since I posted a fish photo...but this was one of the most exciting catches of my life. I'd always heard about how much fun false albacore are to catch...even saw my son catch one...but they don't come in that often or reliably. But I was out on LI yesterday, fishing on LI Sound, and finally caught one. Everything they say is true! It may not have been large, only about 18- 20" and maybe 4 lbs, but it had me running down the beach trying to keep my reel from being stripped! (It was on my light rod, only 10 lb test line). Felt more like a 15 lb bluefish, but much faster...it is a small tuna, after all. Not really tasty, so it was released...but boy, was it fun!
