Before leaving the coast this morning, my wife and myself went down to the beach and saw some Eulophia speciosa growing on the dunes, in sea sand.

That is incredible. And to see it in the wild! WOW!
How big were the flowers?

About an inch, maybe slightly bigger...this was at 6 am, not too awake yet

It's about time Africa started sharing more of it's beautiful orchids!!! Esp. the colourful ones!!!
 
Wow, I see these on the beach near my house every year, but never knew they were orchids, thanks for the info

According to Ann Duckworth (President of the SAOC), it is one of the easier South African terrestrials to keep in cultivation as it grows in sandy soils, and provided it does not get overwatered will do well in a pot or local gardens
