Enanthleya Burderkin Surprise 'Burdekin'

Decided to post this just for its look. Flowers open a rich emerald green then turn to this on maturity.

I had to look up that name - what a mix! I love "epicatts", and this is a keeper. I'd be tempted to back cross it onto a Encyclia to get more flowers, perhaps tampensis.

Have discussed breeding with it. Some nurseries tried it but little if any success. No gemination or seedlings refuse to grow. Not used for some time, off the breeding bench in majority of cases.

That's too bad. I guess there's one too many crossed-up chromosomes in that mix! Lovely flower regardless.
