Lumped in with Debdrobium, sometimes referred to as "watermelon" orchid because of its flower scent.

It is from New Guinea. It is a warm to hot grower, likes bright light, "Oncidium" strength. I allow it to dry completely before watering. It is in a 2" pot and I probably should re-pot. I have owned this plant for four summers.

Hello Naoki. Longer than that. This flower showed signs of opening one afternoon. By the next morning it was fully opened. But by 4pm that afternoon it turned red, and slowly started shriveling by night fall--so 8am-5pm?

Yes it does seem a lot of effort for one day of work. But I think it is challenging me to get it to grow more pseudobulbs so that the number of pseudobulbs will provide a bouquet.
