D. Nellie Slade is D. atroviolaceum x D forbesii (Latouria/New Guinea type Dendrobiums). Plant stands about 12-16 inches tall with club-shaped pseudobulbs and 2-3 terminal leaves. This plant flowered regularly on my windowsill but only intermittantly under lights (like my Catts). My temperature would be intermediate (55-75 degrees F). One of the few plants that I keep in sphagnum moss it likes to be moist all the time. Spikes have 3-6 long-lasting flowers scented strongly of vanilla during the day.

I like it but then Den. atroviolaceum is one of the few Dendrobiums that I do like.

Hey Eric, it's finally spring here. A couple of degrees above freezing and water running everywhere. The ice road within the city limits just closed today due to overflow. I think my idea of spring may be different than others.
