Seen growing as an epiphyte near Tengchong, Yunnan (subtropical area), China. Any ideas?

Dendrobium wardianum, pretty common around Yunnan and north Viet Nam.

definitely...been on my wish list for some time too

It is quite difficult to establish that one, and if getting wild plants ( most of the wardianum in the trade), the canes should be kept pendent, otherwise they start to rot and die. That's a species that can have 2m+ canes for some of them ( though I have several selected ones, that inviariably were 30-50 cm tall plants). It must not be ordered unless the new growth is showing some root starts ( right now), otherwise it is a total failure as well.

One more problem, if a pseudobulb is broken anywhere, even the tip, most of the time it tends to die back to the rhizome and induce the complete plant demise ( for fresh plants).
