Damage too Paph. seed pod

Here is a pic of the damage to the seed pod.It looks like something took a chuck out of it.The pic also shows damage too the spike in upper left corner.

bummer. had you pollinated it?
also, do you know if the things that look like long-tailed mealybugs on the petal or just a reflection from the flash?

I don't know if I'd want to know what creature did that!
I would have to suspect a rodent!

Yes, it was pollinated. I looked the plant over & didn't see any bugs. I thought it might have been mealybugs also but I didn't find any bugs. I looked at the plants near it & nothing on them either. I keep most of my blooming Paph's inside for breeding.

Mealy bugs don't shew out holes. The damage may have been caused by a migrant insect like a beetle or grasshopper. Just passing through and looking for food along the way.

It looks like the plants are indoors?
Could it be a bit hard for a passing beetle or grasshopper to chomp on a plant inside a house?
NO WAY mealies would do that!
I'm telling you - Mousetraps with peanut butter!
