This is a close up of a liemianum spike. It was like this when I got it. It has been explained to me to be something that occurs regularly in this species. It was also explained to me that the spike would eventually reach for a light source and straighten out.

I am wondering what, if any, physiological advantage it gives the plant by doing this?

I concur with the diagnosis. My glaucophyllum does the same thing. It will eventually elongate and grow towards the light source.

:eek: Dang, I guess you have gotten a couple of plants from him a time or twenty? hehe

I notice that in my glauc too, but not to the extreme that this one is doing it.
