A second flowering for a mericlone bought from Petrens nursery. I think they still have them.
its a vigorous thing and produced three new growths this year from a still immature plant, although only one flowered.
i managed to knock off one of the buds so this is the only one remaining.
The scent is amazing, probably my favourite so far of the catts I’ve flowered. It reminds me of roses.

Has anyone noticed that the dorsal of a lot of Catts. is a bit "off"? I
haven't grown Catts. for some years, but it seems to me that the
general quality of the dorsals has been deteriorating...reflexed,
very poor substance in the last few years. I wonder if it's the
over cross breeding or my imagination. David, very nice growing!

The reflexing of the dorsal sepal is not due to poor breeding. It is a natural occurrence of wild populations of many cattleya species except for lueddemanianas, percivalianas and bifoliates (perhaps a few more exceptions). The key of many breeders is to breed rounder and larger flowers, and dorsal erect stance is just a by product of that. Most can be encouraged and groom to stand upright.
