Thank you all for the kind words. This is a very tall and stately plant and the spikes stand up well above the foliage. I have many coerulea cattleyas, but I would say this particular plant is the closest shade of coerulea to blue that I have.

I wonder if anyone has tried watering with food coloring to enhance the blue in these (like they do for phals now).

You know, I have never heard of anyone trying that! Of course it would not be permanent which is what we are trying to get.
