Has anyone heard about a recent discovery of a Blue Impatiens? The scientific name is Impatiens namchabarwensis. 2 botanists found it in a remote canyon in Tibet back in 2003.

Thompson and Morgan have come up with an improved strain. Unfortunately it is only available in the UK:

Has anyone tried this species yet? I sure would like to try to grow this species.

yeah I got it through Annie's annuals, which is I'm sure a nationwide company...it's very easy to grow - just like your standard impatiens. I have one in the greenhouse and one in the garden, where it took 35 F with no trouble, and lots of summer water in CA. Beautiful and easy...what more could you want!!

It is indeed available from Annie's Annuals - I just ordered one, and a couple other Impatiens species to go along with it. Thanks for the idea Robert, I needed some unexpected flowers to go along with all the aroid foliage I have planned for my shady balcony.
