Not sure where to post this, but the following was posted on the Orchid Guide Digest today:

For those of you that had the opportunity to meet and know Father
Angel Andreeta, I must inform you that he passed away yesterday,
September 13th, in Paute near Cuenca, Ecuador, around noon. Many
of us will miss him as a fine person. his stories, findings and
anecdotes of the orchid world. In my opinion, he should be
remembered as one of the most important investigator and discoverer
of Ecuadorian orchids to the world. May he rest in peace.

I had the luck to know him some years ago.A great man that have done the difference for many childs n Ecuador...he gived them a bright future!!
Condolences to all friends and Ecuagenera peoples...

I had the pleasure of speaking with him a couple of years ago during a trip to visit Phrag. besseae habitats in Ecuador. He was a kind and gentle man with a love of Ecuadorean orchids - especially red Phrag. hybrids! He was instrumental in the early success of Ecuagenera as a business and will be missed most of all by the Portilla family. Rest in peace........
