I haven't seen any opinions on this subject and I'd like some ideas. I usually cut back a section of Phrags that has bloomed and turning yellowish. Perhaps this is a bad habit. I'd like other opinions please.
 
Same here. I wait until the leaves are crispy. Before that the leaves are going through the process of senescence during which all the transportable nutrients are being removed for use in other parts of the plant. It’s a process that is just as complex as growth and with its own set of enzymes.
 
Thanks everybody. Perhaps my need for neatness has set back some of my Phrags. I
shall be more careful in future. Do you think we should reassess Eric????

Thank you especially David. I've never heard a good reason for retaining old growth.
