A pair of Pileated woodpeckers ( A Rare Sight)were having a dispute in our backyard..fighting on the ground like 2 roosters ! The winner checked out the tree and a post with a birdhouse...sorry for the poor quality pictures but they were taken through the window of the sunroom...I was taking orchid pictures at the time.

That is very cool Gilda.

I've only seen a couple of random pileateds this season, but last year there was a pair that must have nested nearby, and made regular forays through our yard.

I hope they go for it again.

I was wondering the same thing...

I don't think they would fit into the hole in that birdhouse. You'll have to build a bigger one...
