Good chance I will be able to attend this. Curious to know what experience people have in buying plants overseas at other orchid events. Is it worth to go through all the CITES paperwork? is it risky to ship those plants back to the US? have never done CITES so i have no idea where even to start but i would like to buy in SIngapore if the opportunity came to buy something i am looking for.

A lot depends on the country in which you reside since CITES and other rules are interpreted based on that's country's view. To wit, places like the USA and Australia can be real sticklers about anything that is schedule I. So, know before hand what you are dealing with on your side. Just because you get a plant that has a CITES certificate doesn't mean you can successfully bring it into your home country.

Believe me, I learned the hard way trying to get P. thaianum into Japan WITH PROPER CITES documents - a no go since there were other Japanese hoops I had to jump through to pull it off.

Get informed well ahead of time - the documents, the procedure for clearing customs, how the plants will be treated by plant inspection officers, etc. It will save you a lot of heart ache and money.

oh , not many paphs there..didnt know that....might have to reconsider and attend a different show

any recommendations?

Check the list of vendors and then look at their websites or contact them to find out what they will bring or pre-order and have them bring to WOC.

Probably I'll go, yay! Spent 4 years in Singapore during high school, havent
been there for 6 years now, miss that place so much! Really friendly and nice
orchid people, great warm weather, great food. And with the latest
developments there, I'm excited to see the new changes. Besides the orchids,
don't miss the new casino too! :)

Generally, paph is not a easy plant to have in low land Singapore- mainly due to the hight heat. Papah are very much consider a temperate plant, except a few....
