Hey guys, well, it's been quite a few months. My cousin was diagnosed with leukemia and I've been going to see him whenever I had time (it's a long drive to SF from LA). Between working 40 hours and traveling, most of my plants perished, but amazingly most of the ones that I really hold dear...

It makes a lot of sense to use something like this for Phrags, has anybody tried and had positive results?

    Good to be back.

Gosh, it's been awhile since I've really been able to sit down and think. These past few weeks have been hectic to say the least. I graduated from UCLA, and the next day moved to a new place. Two days later I attended a memorial service for one of my college roommates who died tragically, just...

    Encyclia belizensis

My boyfriend's monster. Darn thing cuts off light to my slippers and is growing like a weed. That top spike is 34 inches; if the flowers weren't so darn cute it'd be in the trash.

    Dude, you're getting ripped off!

A former employee of Dell computers said, "When Dell is good it's really good, and when it's bad it's really bad." I got my first Dell laptop 6 years ago, it's what I'm typing on currently, it works great. When I needed a more portable laptop I went back to Dell and bought their top of the line...

You know you're obsessed with orchids when....

....you watch on the news that the police department just made a huge marijuana raid, and contact the police to see what happened to the grow lights. ....your criteria for choosing a new apartment is based on how many and what size windows face what direction. My boyfriend thinks I'm...

    Paph philippinense

First bloom for this plant, I can't wait until the next. It looks like the the petals are going to max out at just over 8 inches this time, hoping for some improvement there with the next flowering. It's a bit crumpled too, but that's my fault. I'll post again when everything curls up.

    Peloric Cymbidiums

I'm not a huge fan of cymbidiums, however knowing my pension for the rare and unusual, my lovely mother got me some pelorics for an early birthday present. I have plenty of room in my heart to love these :smitten: Cym. Vidar 'Harlequin' Cym. Strawberry Beauty The entire plant has...

Paph (glaucophyllum var. moquettianum x hirsutissimum)

Picked this cross up because I had never seen it. I can't be happier, this is the first bloom off this plant and the flowers are huge, plus it has two more flowers on the way and another spike. I love the way that the color changes as the flower ages too. What can I say? I like the odd balls. :p

    Bulbophyllum echinolabium

Hey all, so here's a question on behalf of my boyfriend (we all know my track record with bulbos... so I am of no use to him here). He loves the oddball orchids and really wants one. Anyone here successfully grow them and can give some recommendations. Thanks :)

    Pacific Orchid Expo

Well, it's that time of the year. So for all us NorCal orchid folk, it's time to stop buying groceries (plenty of room at the soup kitchen), paying the electric bill (the plants are the only ones that need the heat anyways), and start working some extra hours (already made a "must have" list to...
