    Paph. kolopakingii album

I know a lot of college graduates who can't count... :) Had 40 flasks of this last fall. Might be a while before I see them bloom

    * sigh *

Actually I think you can register it anyway, photos are optional. For complex hybrids at least. I've had to register a few oddball hybrids just to get awards processed. Sometimes you get plants with nested brackets (X x Y) x (W x {Z x N}) is a problem I've faced before, the AOS doesn't seem...

    Wanted Phragmipediums that bloom often?

I've grown sorcerer's apprentice in aquaponics... Airstone in the bottom of a 3 gallon bucket. Regular hydroponic fertilizer (made for tomatoes maybe). It never stopped being in bud or bloom, lasted maybe 18 months before I got tired of how big it was getting and moved it back to 'regular'...

    Paph St. Swithin dividing question

Best bet is to judge based on the leaf color. If very dark green, more light will get you better growth (probably). If already a lighter green, you might actually get better growth if you dial back the light a bit. It sounds crazy, I know. Some people can push them really hard with a lot of...

    Paph St. Swithin dividing question

These are two St. Swithin that I grabbed at random. Left is in a 6" pot with 5 or 6 mature growths and several starts. From someone here on ST a few years ago. Right is in an eight inch pot with a few more growths. Why the picture? Just to show that a ten inch pot would be a monster. I...

    Paph St. Swithin dividing question

I would not divide down to single growths unless the plant did it for me.

    Sangii x barbatum

I assume Quintal made these? Got a bunch from them. This is the first to bloom out (in my display). A little wonky in a few parts, but the violet color I like

    Donna's Bird x hainanense

This is a cross I made. Haven't named it yet (someone might have snuck one in). I really like this particular one

    Wanted Paph King Arthur

I used to have lots of it... King Arthur 'Burgogne' (or some proper spelling of that). If nobody else can find it I might have one left. But probably can't find it until I start taking plants outside in the spring. It is kind of weedy....

Anyone with experience of SMC (spider mite control)?

I only grow inside. Point is to starve them. Every predator doesn't eat all its prey, that would be silly. Evolution would have selected them right out..But if you have a lot of predators they will take what they can before they starve.

Anyone with experience of SMC (spider mite control)?

I've used more predators before. Works pretty well. The secret is to make sure you know what you are trying to kill (either key it out yourself or find an entomologist...) and pick something that eats it. Actually the real secret is to overload the predators and not try to establish a resident...

    Selenipedium palmifolium in flower

I would try to grow that... Don't know that I've ever seen Selenipedium offered for sale. The reputation is that they are all meters tall. That one could easily fit under my lights.

    Kovachii flasking

W9 + coconut or something else, do you think?

    Phrag flasks

Two or three compost per flask, usually. Sometimes I experiment.

    Kovachii flasking

Any good suggestions for flasking kovachii? I don't mind doing it myself, although it is certainly easier to send it out if I can be convinced it would be done well... If you have had success, care to share the medium that you used? I've tried a few phrags with marginal success. Plan is to...

    Phrag flasks

Maybe 10 flasks arrived from Chuck Acker today. Impeccably packed, as always. Still a good selection on his website

    Should be worth the wait.

    Paph wardii 'Littlefrog Go Green'

Not 'Double Delight' for this grex, I think it is 'New Dimension' x 'Emerald' (or Emerald something). Plants are basically second or third time bloomers in 2.25" pots. Two growths-ish. But I had some doubles on the first year blooms. Very free flowering, seem to bloom every six months or so.
