Paph. Pascal Sauvêtre (Paph. glaucophyllum x Paph. helenae)

Here's the second flower two days after opening. I appreciate how it "arranged itself" at nearly 90 degree angle and slightly taller to make room for the petals to open without crowding. Two robust new growths coming as well.

Paph. concolor ‘Yellow Bird’ x thaianum ‘Perfecto’

Cute and a very willing grower.

    Water Quality

I think you misunderstood what I meant about clay pots/crockery.... During the day when the orchidarium is at 80+ degrees F, I simply spray distilled water on the outside of empty clay pots that I stack to get plants closer to the lights. The water evaporated from the clay pots pretty...

    Water Quality

I only have 25 plants (mixed genera) , so I buy distilled water from the grocery store. I spray it on clay pots to keep the humidity up and mix with MSU for fertilizing. Winter is my biggest demand for keeping humidity up, but even then I don't use more than 4 gallons per week. At 80-95 cents...

Paph. Pascal Sauvêtre (Paph. glaucophyllum x Paph. helenae)

It's only been open for one full day. I'll post again in a week. It seems to like to grow warm and bright (84-68 F) day/night temps. High output biaxial lights running 16 hours in the summer and 14 hours in winter months. I was surprised also with the outcome of this hybrid. :)

Paph. Pascal Sauvêtre (Paph. glaucophyllum x Paph. helenae)

Dorsal height is 4.5 cm, Width is 8 cm and leaf span is right at 11 inches. And yes, there is another bud developing. Mike

Paph. Pascal Sauvêtre (Paph. glaucophyllum x Paph. helenae)

Was looking to buy Paph. helenae this year but since they all seemed sold out for the foreseeable future, I decided to try this hybrid from Hausermann's in Chicago. Received it in April of 2020, repotted it, and it really took off; rewarding the effort with a flower already (plus two new growths...

Six Paph. gratrixianum flowers in a 5 inch pot

My temps run between 76 - 63 F (day - night) under fluorescent lights run 16 hours during the summer and 14 hours in winter.

Six Paph. gratrixianum flowers in a 5 inch pot

Yes, senescence (last years growth finally giving up). I use MSU Formula Plant Food for RO/Tap/Rain Water 13-3-15 including Cal and Mag.

Six Paph. gratrixianum flowers in a 5 inch pot

I agree Don, seems like all I have to do is give them watered and fed and they take care of everything else. Very vigorous and easy once you acknowledge they like being on the cool side.... Thanks, Mike

Six Paph. gratrixianum flowers in a 5 inch pot

Moved this plant from the in-house Orchidarium to our cooler sun room under fluorescent lights last year (since it didn't seem to appreciate the higher daytime temps and blasted buds last year). Flowers seem smaller this year and pardon the lack of staking, etc., was interested to see how...

    Paph. Asteroid

    It is pretty self-supporting....thanks

    Paph. Asteroid

I rescued it back in 2010 when Quarter Acre Orchids was still selling plants. I see you are in the DC area, maybe I can get a piece to you when I repot it later this year. Maybe at a National Capital Orchid Society meeting? Mike

    Paph. Asteroid

Best flowering ever for me (two flowers on 4 new growths). In my experience, Paph. Asteroid (Paph. Greyi x Paph. Conco-bellatulum) is a very resilient plant. It is in a 4 inch plastic pot with standard Paph mix I get from Quarter Acre Orchids. Main difference this past year was a little...

    Gang of Paph gratrixianum

Thanks everyone. While I was gone another spike emerged.... :-) Guldal, here's a close up. Take care all, Mike

    Paphiopedilum platyphyllum

    Fantastic! Nice mustache :-)

    Gang of Paph gratrixianum

Here's a pic of this years blooming of my small pot of gratrixianum. I would have had 8 flowers except three blasted in my orchidarium due to heat (I presume). So moved them to my cooler sun room and they seem much happier now. Here is the link in Drop Box...

    Paph. delophyllum?

That is pretty darn close. Thanks very much for the note. Mike
