For Sale Cattleya labiata ('Libra' × 'Sherwood Forest' AM/AOS)

From Steve Christoffersen's breeding. Just bloomed for the first time in November 2023. Large, healthy plant with tons of roots and at least two new growths. Selling it to gain some space back in my grow tent. $35 + shipping. May need to wait a few weeks to ship from Colorado as weather is still...

    Rhyncholaelia Aristocrat

Cross is Rl. (digbyana × glauca). Had one of these and sold it. Regretted it and got a division back. Tough and easy to grow, huge flower (NS 14.5 cm), strong citrus fragrance after dark. Really like the color as well. When this is big enough to put out several flowers it'll be really...

    Cycnoches warszewiczii

First bloom for me, received the plant from Sunset Valley Orchids in 2021. I love it. Fragrance is strong, sweet and fruity.

Cattleya labiata ('Sherwood Forest' AM/AOS × 'Libra')

First bloom seedling from Steve Christoffersen. Flower did not open as much as it could, maybe just a first-bloom thing. Seems to have a bit of pincelada going on. Super sweet scent. Anyone know the story of 'Sherwood Forest' ? Some growers have suggested it is not just labiata.

What is an overlay in color description?

I see this all the time I don't really understand it. Petals white, overlaid burgundy for example. For that matter, what does 'suffused' and 'base color' mean as well.

    Cycnoches Fire Embers

After seeing cooperi bloom for the first time last year, I went Cycnoches crazy and bought three more from SVO's October 2022 offering. This is one of them. I'm interested in how you would describe the color, if you'd be willing to share your thoughts. So far, I've heard: warm golden pumpkin...

    Cycnoches cooperi

Breeding is 'SVO III' FCC/AOS × 'Mem. Pat Worthington' AM/AOS from Sunset Valley Orchids. I'm completely smitten with it! No fragrance detected yet, it's still opening I guess.

    What does line-breeding actually mean?

Hey all, I remember reading on here awhile ago about how some paphs like rothschildianum used to be super slow-growing, hard to bloom and easy to kill, but thanks to line breeding, much easier plants have been produced in recent years. So I am trying to do the same thing with my cattleya rex...

    Cattleya rex 2022

I bought a flask of these in 2014 and they started blooming in 2019. This year it looks like we'll get to see at least 6 of them bloom, maybe more. First to bloom this season is 'Illapu', a second flowering for this clone. Two flowers last year and two again this year.

    Bulbophyllum croceum Lindl. 1830

The flowers are brilliant orange little sunbursts, so cool and unusual. They only lasted about 4 days, and they have a very faint, sweet earthy fragrance, kind of like overripe fruit, or fallen autumn leaves after a rain. I got some cuttings of this plant from an OrchidBoard member last year...

    Mormodia Jumbo World 'Kanazawa' HCC/AOS

This plant has been grown in a variety of conditions over the years, from outdoors to sun room to grow room to greenhouse. This past year, it's been in my apartment grow tent, and it's done better than ever before. Biggest bulb and most floriferous blooming ever, 40 flowers on 2 spikes. Flowers...

    Clowesia Rebecca Northen

Interesting little flowers with a lemon ginger fragrance. I have seen clones with much more open flowers, so I'm disappointed that these are so closed. Undecided whether to keep it or not. Meh. Source: Sunset Valley Orchids, 2021

    Cattleya rex 2021

Rex blooming season came a good 3 months early this year! Maybe it was the intense LED lights that brought them out so fast. This clone has been dubbed 'Urqu' meaning 'mountain' in Quechua. Judging is May 8, but I don't think they will look too good at that point. We shall see.
