Defining the baseline for Jenosa type Cymbidiums

Agdia is the most common one I've heard of and it's what I use. https://orders.agdia.com/immunostrip-for-cymmv-and-orsv-isk-13301

    Phragmipedium Predator

Finicky is almost an understatement! I sometimes make exceptions for fussy plants if I like them enough, and this plant happens to be one of my favorite Phrags in my collection. In my experience, there's some portion of progeny from these long petaled intersectional hybrids involving species in...

    Phragmipedium Andean Fire

The color looks nice and I love the horizontal petal stance. I have one of these as well, and while I adore it, I don't think the flowers are this nice. So, congrats!

    Phragmipedium Predator

I'll be interested in seeing the rest of the progeny (assuming many pots means many different seedlings). I have one of these Phrag. Predators from a different source, and to the untrained eye mine might look similar to yours, but to me they look like very different flowers in ways that are...

Defining the baseline for Jenosa type Cymbidiums

DISCLAIMERS: To some extent, culture of section Jensoa can be a polarizing and "controversial" topic. Additionally, we're talking about a diverse group of species, some of which are nebulously defined, where some are wide ranging and highly variable, so there's hardly a one size fits all answer...

    Paph. Charles Sladden 'Harford' AM/AOS

Interesting outcome. From what I'm seeing online this hybrid is Paph. bellatulum x Paph. glaucophyllum. Before I looked it up, I was thinking this was a brachy hybrid with some anitum/adductum in the background, so I was really surprised to see the actual parentage. Good outcome given the...

Could this be Paphiopedilum Bel Royal?

This seems like a reasonable outcome for that particular hybrid, in my opinion. Obviously can't confirm it 100% based on a single photo from the internet, but the additional details regarding its size and the fact that your records suggest this as the ID, I think it's okay to assume.

    Paph. QF Tiger

Not really my thing, but it's definitely an interesting hybrid to say the least. Foliage is gorgeous and I love the spots on the petals. I assume this is easier to grow and bloom than tigrinum, correct?

    Paph.micranthum 11 buds/flrs on 10 inflorescences

Good grief I'm so jealous. Any cultural tips you feel like sharing, I'm all ears!

    Grammatophyllum scriptum 'Dwarf'

It is! My only hesitation is that over the years some folks have been pretty adamant that these "dwarf" varieties are simply precocious bloomers that take longer than normal to reach full, mature size. I've struggled to find anybody who has been growing one of them for years who can confirm that...

    Grammatophyllum scriptum 'Dwarf'

Grammatophyllum scriptum 'Dwarf' is supposed to be a naturally diminutive form of this otherwise large growing species. I'm posting this because it came up in conversation in another thread, and I realized maybe folks would be interested in seeing it. I've only had this for a year, I got it...

Paphiopedilum lowii - first bloom (after 14 years)

Congrats. 14 years is a LOT of patience. Can't say I'd have given a plant that much time to "perform". Looking good though.

Pictures from the Greater Akron Orchid Show

Your "meager" contributions are the best! I mean, the Lycastes do give it a run for the money, but still. Is that the native Eastern USA Lycopodium I spot in some of the displays? I'm wondering if folks are cultivating it or if it's wild collected.

    Cymbidium Valerie Absolanova

I have to take back what I said about having multiple Grammatocymbiums. I bought a bunch of seedlings of Pakkret breeding last year, and for some reason I was thinking some of them were Grammatocymbidiums but when I checked earlier I realized they're all pure Cymbidium. So, apparently I only...

    Cymbidium Maureen Carter 'Fragrant Princess'

It came from a seller named Nia22d on Ebay, looking at my records I bought it early 2021. It's been a reliable bloomer, but this year is going to be a bumper crop, I think there are 3 flower spikes. I miss The Orchid Trail so much. I lived about 25 minutes away from that place for about 10...

    Cymbidium Maureen Carter 'Fragrant Princess'

This one's pretty large, at least an order of magnitude larger than a typical Cym. sinense and more or less the same size as many standard Cymbidiums. I have grown it under lights in years past, but when it is in bloom, it's not going to fit on a shelf under lights in an average indoor growing...

    Cymbidium Valerie Absolanova

I should have posted last year when it first started blooming, but I'm not super consistent about posting. Agree with what you said about Valerie Absolonova, it's a wonderful hybrid with a wonderful history. I've got a handful of Grammatocymbidiums in my collection as well, though most of them...
