    Semi hydro help

I’m trying a few plants on semi-hydro, hoping to rejuvenate them - after 2 weeks, I noticed white precipitate forming on the topmost Leca balls. I noticed new roots starting to grow so the plant seems to be adapting, but wanted to get feedback on what’s happening and what I should be doing...

Paph Predacious, Paph fowlei album, Paph haynaldianum album

Paph Gary Romagna / Paph philippinense

I would prefer a broader (and flatter) dorsal on the GR but maybe that’s the philippinense influence. I think the left philippinense is var laevigatum, and the album one is var roebelinii album?

Stalite or Expanded Shale in NJ / PA

I’ve seen some very nice plants grown in media containing stalite/permatil or expanded shale. Does anyone know where these can be purchased in the NJ/ PA area? The online sources are pricey to ship. Thanks!

    Compact Stonei

I got this compact stonei that has only about 16-18 in leaf spread with small flowers, which is great for the space I have. Is this a compact form of the species or will the plant / flowers get bigger over time? Wanted to get the expert opinions.

    P Roth “Charles Edwards”

My wife and I were at the Philadelphia Flower Show yesterday in spite of the rain. Nice surprise which made it worthwhile was to see the historic Charles E clone from the US Botanic Garden on display.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Pair of philippinenses. I particularly like the compact size of the plants. While the petals are not as long as I was hoping for, the regular form is about 13-14 inches leafspan. The album is only about 8 or 9 inches total leafspan.
