    Peloric Paphiopedilum Arete

I bought the flask from a grower in Malaysia back in 2011 as a primary hybrid between Paph. spicerianum x Paph. concolor (= Paph. Arete). Some seedlings looks crimped on their shoots and producing very unstable ugly flower. This photo below is the fifth clone blooming and has the worst mutation...

Orchid weevil, the most damaging pest in Indonesia

Yeah i guess its hard to penetrate 4-5 cm thick of Dendrobium pseudobulbs. I've tried to inject the insecticide by needle and spuit with no luck :((

Orchid weevil, the most damaging pest in Indonesia

To be honest, I didnt spot many Paphs in the wild during exploration. Only Paph. javanicum, Paph. glaucophyllum, Paph. lowii, Paph. bullenianum var. celebesense, Paph. glanduliferum, Paph. primulinum and several others. Will post some pics later soon ;)

    Deformation in agroclimate differences

Possible, They've been flowering normally every season or at least once in a year but i didnt documented their last two season flowers. They're not having growth degradation at all, but only less shoots with Paph. callosum, less roots with Paph. purpuratum and of course as we can see, lack of...

    Deformation in agroclimate differences

These are three specimen from three different species with three different locality and habitat. All Barbata section. The photos on the top were taken recently under lowland condition, conventional cultivation controlled by heavy fogging (6 S - 106 E, min. temperature, night 20 C - max...

Paph. (Shun-Fa Golden x Ice Castle)

It took almost 4 months for the bud initiation. My growing area isnt really desirable for Paphs actually, and during the bud development we were having trans season here so it might caused some deformation. The second flower is initiating soon i guess, gonna post it here as soon as its bloomed ;)

Paph. (Shun-Fa Golden x Ice Castle)

I did already, but the pollen isnt vigour enough to pollinate others and the seedpod sheath was nested by mealy bugs, so im not really sure if the seeds are viable to germinate or not *crossedfingers

Paph. (Shun-Fa Golden x Ice Castle)

I bought the flask at 20th WOC in Singapore from Tokyo Orchid Nursery, and here's the first bloom, waiting for another 3 to develop. The shape is quite unusual and the pouch looks unbalance. Lack of spots and to be honest i dont really like the pale color.

These photos wouldnt be relevant with the threads but please enjoy. I only could found some photos from Biak Island and Waigeo Island, need to browse my harddisk and its gonna be a lot of work. Vandopsis lissochiloides, growing on seashore's rocks, frequently splashed with salt water, Waigeo...

Orchid weevil, the most damaging pest in Indonesia

Thanks for knowledge, i've been working with palm fruit production and breeding as well especially in Salacca spp.. We've been concerning for the palm weevil attack lately. Do you know if there's any specific nematodes for them? For the orchid weevil, Bacillus thuringiensis seems quite works...

Orchid weevil, the most damaging pest in Indonesia

Fortunately no, what i'm trying to say here, the local weevils adapt with some 'invader' new hosts. So far i had no problems with native species here. Regards on their light requirements, i put most of the Brachys next to Dendrobiums, maybe that's how they migrate easily. It works on Paphs...

Orchid weevil, the most damaging pest in Indonesia

Sorry, i was trying google drive and apparently it didnt work, so here's the pictures : Early damaged, usually the dead tissues caused by the adults. The crown is damaged by the larvae, as you can see in the shoot point. Since Paph. doesnt have much edible tissues for the...

    Paphiopedilum javanicum flasking

Nope, not yet, but im about to, still waiting for the seed pod to be matured and ready to sow, i'll update the progress in about a year. I do believe the growth rate in general would be a bit faster.

    Paphiopedilum primulinum and its varieties

Ah thanks for the correction! You are right, its called intraspecific hybrid. I've several seedling from selfing and sib-cross (from the same batch) already but just recently thinking to make an outcrossing between them. I've documenting their origin for conservation purpose, because we...
