Also check alert preferences. Just go to the User Control Panel and find Alert Preferences.

Members cannot delete their own posts. If you will edit the duplicate to say duplicate, or just use the report word at the bottom of the duplicate post and report it, and just say "duplicate, please delete" and one of the mod/admin will take care of it for you.
