You could add bonemeal and I usually water 2 times a week in summer and once a week in winter depending on when the medium dries out. They don't like to be extreme dry as the thick leaves suggest. I usually stick my finger in the mix down to about 1.5 inches deep to feel if it is dry.

I grow my mexipediums in a mix of fine bark, coarse perlite, sphagnum moss and dolomite. I have about 5 pots of them growing under my lights.

Thanks for the information. When I look at the young seedlings I do notice a few of then already have the dark purple edge so I suspect the mother plant to be half vinicolor. Hopefully the backcross will be as dark as the ones I had many years ago

I would like to know as well as I got 3 flasks of them. Sam sent me the wrong delenatii cross so I ended up with 3 exact same cross.

Really hard to take a photo of a dark flower that is almost black! Took me 5 tries to get a somewhat decent flower!

Those preserved plum are really sour and had a slight sweet taste. My dad really likes them but they are really expensive!
