It’s a new growth. Spikes usually come from an eye in the middle or top with Cyc. Regardless, even if a spike, it’s the dormant period. DO NOT WATER! Begin to water when new growth is at least 6” and new roots are 4”.
I have several spiking now in dormancy.
I have mealybugs in my paphs. I’ve tried alcohol, Orthene without and with Palmolive, Bayer 3 and 1 without and with Palmolive. Still have them. Suggestions?? Spray with something else? Malathion? Repot? Spray with something before repotting???
Yes. All of my orchids are outside all year long. Since we have temps dipping into the 30’s tomorrow, they have all been covered and/or moved inside my covered lanai. Some people bring them inside. I don’t.
I live in Sarasota. Which paphs/phrags would be best to grow in my climate - temps 92-4/70-3 in summer; 50-70/50s in winter. Sometimes into 40s and occasionally 30s.
