Bulbophyllum mastersianum 'CAD's Scarlet Umbrella' AM/AOS

Lovely form and color. You definitely earned it!

    nigritum fma. abum ( viride)

I suspected. Still delightful. I have seen plants marketed as var nigritum - are you saying that in reality the coloratum type of nigritum essentially doesn't really exist in cultivation? I have never actually looked up the distinguishing features with barbatum, I guess I will now

    Paphiopedilum Hung Sheng Spice

Nothing more satisfying than getting a Paph to make a big clump. Well done!

    nigritum fma. abum ( viride)

Really nice! Does it stay flat?

    Cattleya labiata semi alba

    For Sale Orchid zone rothschildianum

I believe all of the good stuff that Dave has and that was at the OZ were from Rex x Mt Milais offspring sibling crosses. The plant you ordered should have very good potential but honestly I don't think sibling crossing sibling crosses from Rex x Mt Milais will actually lead to big improvements...

    Orchids 2024

I went and visited him in NC once a while back. Had a great time hanging out in the greenhouse for the day but unfortunately it was summer time so not too many blooms. Regret not going back again and not getting to seem him before he passed

    root problem

Interesting. Is it one subgroup of paphs only or several different kinds? Have you tried spraying with mancozeb/dithane? Beyond that I don’t really have the knowledge. It’s maybe not directly related but I use kelpak monthly and get good roots that extend as long as I keep them moist. Maybe if...

    root problem

I think Tony might do a similar boron/calcium drench. Not sure if he can recommend ratios. I think it was on the pdf that’s online that Xavier wrote

    root problem

Xavier listed something similar as being boron/zinc deficiency related. Maybe could be that? I have never done his recommended ammonium nitrate boric acid calcium nitrate tank mix but maybe worth a try. Mancozeb does work great for me to green up plants for zinc/manganese

    Blooms to brighten your day!

Thanks for the show! The Hilo Grand is very impressive. I think I’ve seen the Pamela hetherington at Waldor. Huge flower too if I remember correctly.

    Paphiopedilum venustum var measuresianum

Love the petals on this one!

    Orchids 2024

Lovely! Not that it matters but what is the NS? I would think 10cm or so?

    Lc. Cynthia 'Model' AM, FCC/AOS

Wow! Lovely flower. I do wonder if the ‘unnatural selection’ process was a little different before flasking was used

    Any Guesses?

Maybe just a really poor Roth. Hard to say the runts of some of these crosses can all look equally bad. Bel royal x Roth? But I’ve seen never that cross. I do find the leaves of lowii and haynaldianum very distinct from other multis

    Cattleya aurea

Thanks for the info. You have a lovely collection of both paphs and catts!

Yes I have found the same. I agree that there are for sure many downsides with outdoor growing. I haven't had any bug issues but I do find the seedling and compots keep growing more consistently indoors. I like when the plants can get thoroughly flushed by a big rain though. Brachys and...

Stunning! Grown in rock wool as well?

    Paph adductum

Amazing color. All going well hopefully you'll be able to select some vigorous seedlings too. The photo on my profile is an adductum from an orchid zone sibling cross I had many years ago. Sadly lost more through neglect - I recall it was a little slow but grew fine. But nowhere near the color...
