For Sale New Feature at firstrays.com

I forgot to add that you get 5000 points, good for $5 off, just for signing up. And there's a typo in the graphic: you don't get 10 points for every dollar spent, you get 50!

We were not affected by Helene at all.

    No Shipping!

Compared to many in the area, we got off well from PTC8 - just had the gravel in a flagstone walkway washed away - an this was NOTHING compared to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

    root problem

I think we put too much on the shoulders of "nutrient deficiencies". Sure, a plant may look pale if undernourished, but slower-than-normal growth is far more common than other observable defects. People seem to think that plants react quickly, but they generally don't, and what they have...

    Epidendrum magnoliae (sm fm)

That's precisely what mine is. I emailed to see if he had it, and he confirmed he did, so I called and ordered. This wasn't all that long ago, so try the same.

    K-Lite-EA

Ca and Mg are expressed as elemental percentages, as is nitrogen. The original K-Lite has 12.9% N, 10% Ca and 3% Mg. Therefore, a 100 ppm N solution will have 100*10/12.9=78 ppm Ca and 100*3/12.9=23 ppm Mg. A ppm is a milligram per kilogram, so if you simply estimate a liter of solution to be...

    Epidendrum magnoliae (sm fm)

I recently acquired on from Andy’s Orchids - also much smaller than one I had that had been collected in Panama so 50 years ago. According to Andy, this particular plant is a division of one that was collected from a magnolia growing about 60 miles inland from me, so I’m tempted to try mounting...

    RO filter water pressure.

They probably built in a safety factor. Every residential membrane I've seen specifies 100 psi max.

    RO filter water pressure.

    Why lower the pressure?

    K-Lite-EA

Anyone wishing to try the enhanced-ammonia version, especially if able to do a side-by side experiment, can buy it for the same price at my web store. If you just go the the online store, it's on the second page.

    Pet story +

Reading of Lori.B’s loss made me think a “we are idiots” pet story might be in order. We’ve always had cats. On my own, that started with a black alley cat kitten I rescued in Atlanta. She lived in the dorms with me and even went on our honeymoon. She, “BC”, taught later kittens how to catch...

You will not find a seaweed extract as good as Kelpak.

    Paphiopedilum rothschildianum

    Still looks pretty nice.

    RO filter water pressure.

It all looks pretty standard for a residential membrane. About the only things I can think of is that you either have a defective new membrane or a leak between the permeate and raw water or brine flows.

    RO filter water pressure.

Your setup sounds reasonable. Can you share the specs of both membranes, includng brand and part number, if you have them? The two water flows are not outrageous at 1:1.43, although I would expect that to foul more readily. Most residential systems are in the neighborhood of 1:3.

    RO filter water pressure.

I know they indicate that it's correct, but every RO system I've ever seen has not had the ASV in the flush water line, but in the (white) raw water line before it enters the membrane housing. The function is that when the back-pressure in the pure water output line reaches 2/3 of the incoming...
