    Paph Season 2024

Are they really that difficult? One of the judges at Asheville commented that the one I had on display there was only the second he had seen in his life. The first was mine in our show last year lol Besides you have like 40 flowers on 'Mont Milais' right now, that's way cooler 😂

How to Bring my Paphs. through a Vacation

Check out past posts from @Happypaphy7 detailing his trash bag method.

    Paph Season 2024

Peak blooming season has passed but I'm still getting flowers here and there. Another stonei: Sunlight Rothschild: Xanthophyllum: Lastly a disappointing Wössner Black Wings. It had potential with four flowers on a first bloom and a nicely marked dorsal sepal, but as it opened the...

How would you rate this Paph. rothschildianum?

Yes I see from the thread that you already have all the answers. Best of luck.

How would you rate this Paph. rothschildianum?

Trying to judge flower quality on a near dead plant is pointless, it is not going to perform anywhere near its potential in such a state and likely won't live to bloom again anyway.

    Paph Season 2024

I couldn't resist this Wössner Giganitum at the Asheville Orchid Festival today, I'm looking forward to growing it up and seeing what it can do.

    Phalaenopsis Miki Crown ‘16’ HCC/AOS

I don't see any reason mericlones should have a blanket exclusion from the judging system, though it does open the door to the problem of one clone being awarded multiple times under different names. I believe that discussion has been had here before with no real resolution given the difficulty...

    General pollination questions

It is generally thought that the pod parent carries slightly more influence because the seedlings inherit mitochondrial and plastid genomes entirely from the mother plant.

    * sigh *

Crosses are being registered in flask now, may as well name it yourself.

Blooming Paph Magic Rainbow and Paph appletonianum

It's only a matter of time before they displace the true species in judging and breeding like we've already seen in spicerianum and primulinum.

    Paph Season 2024

It is yellower than I would like, but for $50 I rolled the dice. If nothing else I got some pollen to work with.

Yeah, yeah, yours is bigger I know...

    Paph Season 2024

Not yet, I cut the flower and stored the pollen right after the pic to hopefully get it moving.

    Paph Season 2024

Finally filled a gaping hole in my collection, and I didn't even have to sacrifice a gonad.

    Mini Multi-Florals?

Glanduliferum/praestans complex parents can bring the size down but they also tend to reduce flower count.

You're too kind. The Parvi/Brachy types were entrusted to me by @Happypaphy7 when he moved to Germany and I'm doing my best to keep them happy.
