Just awarded in Kansas City at the GKCOS Orchid Show last weekend. This is a picture of last year's bloom as I forgot to take one before heading to Kansas City

Just from the pictures, the one on the right looks to have wider petals and a stockier look. It would be my choice for breeding hybrids.

It's not something I've tried mainly because the plant's shy blooming characteristic (for me, at least) has discouraged me from using it for breeding.

Only one is listed, with Paph Maudiae as the pollen parent. It was made by Norris Powell and registered in 1991. It might be interesting to try a Brachy onto it, either thaianum or one of the darker not leucochilums.

I've found that it is a good grower, just a shy bloomer. Because of that, I sold this one while in bloom. I still have a comparably sized division and two small single growth divisions.

First of the F2 generation cross that I kept. The other two are in spike. This blooming is lighter than previous bloomings.

They are beautiful flowers. It's obvious you are growing barbigerum as well as it can be grown. I also have the issue with the nearest judging center being distant. Some judges may live near you that would be willing to bring your plant with them.
