    slugs in my greenhouse

No doubt, given that cigarette butts that find their way into puddles and streams, and the ocean are known killers. I like the recycling idea as slug killers or repellents. I'd worry however about tobacco mosaic virus getting into the greenhouse ecosystem.

    Identification of indigenous wild flower

It's one of the few orchid escapees. Not really invasive, but 'from away' in the US. Very common in Europe.

    Wanted Charcoal

From my biochar research, charcoal is easy to produce, but the results are highly variable depending on type of wood and the combustion techniques used. That said, it provides many benefits beyond what perlite does. Given paphs prefer (or demand, depending) annual repotting, it seems unlikely...

    Hello everyone 😁

And a warm welcome from way down in the southwest corner of Europe, where I'm testing cattleyas among others for the ability to thrive outdoors year round. It's great you found a passion early that will stay with you for life!

    KelpMax

TBH, I can't imagine growing plants of any kind without using a liquid seaweed amendment.I think I first used it around 1975, because the 2 young guys producing it in a small lab talked me into trying it. I had 15k orchids in a 30' x 50' commercial glasshouse. After a couple of months using it I...

    Hello from Holland

Welcome from Alicante Spain. I was in Holland the past 2 years, but my orchids demanded a change of climate, so here I am. And not at all unhappy I listened to their appeal :)

    Cattleya...First love.

For me, it was seeing a picture of Phrag pearcei in the 1970s. A few days after, I had a vivid dream where a giant pearcei blossom was hovering over my shoulder and following me around, while a deep voice kept intoning the Latin name. I kid you not. I became obsessed, tracked it down to J and L...

    Hi everybody!

I think maybe fondness follows after understanding and familiarity, no? I see lots of orchids on windowsills in my region, but most are phalenopsis purchased at the supermarket.
