    Potting Question

I purchased it as p. micranthum from an orchid show & sales in Toronto ~2009, but I don't recall the name of the seller. Here's a picture of the one time I successfully got it to bloom in 2012 for your assessment. Since then there's been a lot of moving, and subsequent blasting :(

    Potting Question

Oops, forgot the fertilizer! I use liquid Dyna-Gro Grow, 7-9-5, and a bit of garden lime. I've never measured pH etc, but I'm thinking I might start.

    Potting Question

Orchiata classic/fine, I water every 4-6 days, and the temperature range is 15C to 22C, or whatever my home is heated or cooled to, as they're in my main living space. I was using distilled water while living in Toronto, not sure why exactly, but I only have a few plants so the added cost wasn't...

    Potting Question

To be honest, aeration isn't something I've really considered  The medium is 100% Orchiata.

Paphiopedilum armeniacum 'Orchid Court'; five flowers

I can grow Micranthum and Gold Dollar, but have failed miserably with Armeniacum on multiple attempts. I believe the "...never dry..." is what I can't achieve. Gorgeous plant!

    Potting Question

I like clear pots so I can monitor root development but I prefer them with no slots to minimize roots growing out of the pot. If I have a clear slotted pot that I want to use due to its size etc, I'll nest two in one so the slots are blocked.

    Too many Magic Lanterns

Good job, they look great! I'm debating whether I should divide my micranthum as it seems to be doing well right now.

    Paphiopedilum Vietnamense - First Bloom

This pic was taken on July 02, when the left petal started to droop. The flower has now mostly browned. It lasted 3-4 weeks.,

    Paphiopedilum Vietnamense - First Bloom

Thanks! I was worried about the bud blasting after reading about people's experiences with this species, and I have a micranthum that last bloomed in 2012, blasted in 2018, blasted again in 2019, and I'm still waiting with hope...

    Paphiopedilum Vietnamense - First Bloom

Here's a picture from June 06 to give you an idea of how long it's been open. The pictures in the first post were taken on June 17. I was away for work June 06-17 and worried what I would come home to, but luckily it's still in decent shape for me to enjoy.

    Paphiopedilum Vietnamense - First Bloom

Hi Everyone, here's my first bloom of p. vietnamense, purchased from Cloud's sometime in early 2018. It got a little too much sun in 2019 which bleached and faded the leaves, but it's rebounded nicely. No new growths are visible just yet, and while there was a second bud, it's browned/blasted...
