Can humidity levels be too high?

Agreed with Tom. No such thing as too high humidity, just not enough airflow :P. If you have 100% humidity in a completely stagnant environment, then all of your plants are going to rot (probably). If you have 100% humidity in a place where you have exceptionally good airflow, then you probably...

    Green Pod a dud?

Also, a lot of the mycorrhizal relationships are pretty specific, and most plants nowadays come from sterile flasks. Regardless of whether or not the seed was mature enough, unless the parent plant was wild collected or had some contact with non-sterile media from it's native range, it is...

Recirculating water table for phrag culture

Ambitious! I like it! That's gonna need a lot of space though... :P

Recirculating water table for phrag culture

Yeah, eventually I would like to do something like this. RO does waste a lot of water which is perfectly fine for other things. I also dabble with aquariums, but don't currently have one large enough to bother trying to tie it in. Looking forward to pics of your tanks!

Recirculating water table for phrag culture

Yup... this is exactly why when I used to fill buckets directly from my RO system, I always set them in the tub. That way, if I forgot about them, at least it was just running down the drain. Then I finally bit the bullet and got a storage tank because I got tired of forgetting about buckets in...

    Cyp. candidum in situ

Gorgeous! I love seeing in situ photos like this! I feel your pain. I too can't seem to win this year (just finished throwing last-minute cover on all my tomatoes). But they call it an "average" last frost date for a reason :P.

Recirculating water table for phrag culture

Somehow, I missed that this thread got revived. But it reminded me that I should probably give an update. Two years in and I am loving the recirculating water table! Pretty much everything in it is growing well. No issues with rotting so far (*knocks on wood*). I never did get around to...

    Phrag andreettae advice

I've used "flower rock" branded rock before with good results. It is available in large bags at most of the big box stores (the red stuff) around me. That said, it probably varies a lot from bag-to-bag and from region-to-region. So be careful. I rinse off all of the dust and soak them in some...

    Cyp. acaule in situ

Must not be a great year here for them. Took a walk back yesterday and there are a lot of plants up, but not very many of them are blooming (maybe only about 10%-20% or so). Last year, it seemed like there were more of them up and almost all of them were in bloom (possibly just a banner year...

    Cyp. acaule in situ

Nice! I'm gonna have to take a walk back one of these days and see how that patch behind my apartment is doing. Last I saw, they were starting to send up flowers, but that was a couple weeks ago, so they are probably open by now.

Yeah... I guess it wasn't worth the drive. Oh well, figured it was worth throwing that out as a possibility.

    Ernie from Virginia!

Yes! Definitely stop by The BBQ Exchange is you end up stopping by Gordonsville. I drop by there probably more frequently than I should... >.> <.< Also, not sure if they are still doing it or not, but Floradise used to drive up and rent a stall at one of the DC area farmers' markets one day a...

    Ernie from Virginia!

The orchids at the Strange's in Richmond always look very sad. I actually didn't realize they had multiple locations :p. But they (and Snow's) are usually my go-to for everything non-orchid. Great places. I haven't been there in a while, but Floradise in Gordonsville is worth a look. They had...
