Going, selling, and will be writing up the meeting for the Slipper Orchid Alliance, and probably for the Orchid Digest as well...hope to see you there!

    New Mexipedium Seedling Source

Pretty excited about these... https://paphparadise.com/product/mexipedium-xerophyticum-2/ I wonder why people don't have seedlings for sale very often?

Paph. Magic Mood 'Waikanae x Joan Thomas 'Gosford'

Sorry, your flower is mislabeled. Both parents come from Peter Black; both parents are rather nice yellows, and there are no spotted or red flowers in the background of either. Perhaps you could ask the vendor if there was a mix-up in the nursery?

    wow that's lovely

    selfing awarded hybrid

Interesting you should choose Winston Churchill as an example. There are a number of significant clones of Winston Churchill resulting from sibbing 'Redoubtable' and 'Indomitable'. These, termed F2, include clones like 'Atlas', 'Commonwealth', 'British Enterprise', 'Eminence', and 'Wyndmoor'...

    Paph. F.C. Puddle

I might add that these anecdotes appear (or will) in the Orchid Digest; Part II of The History of Extant Complex Paphiopedilums has been submitted and will hopefully appear soon...Puddle and Aberconway will in part III...

Frederick Charles Puddle – lacking abilities as a tradesman, he was a grower, a lesser profession, from a young age, had a greenhouse by age 15 in which he grew champion mums; trained with Veitch; head grower at Scampston Hall for St. Quintin before moving to Bodnant in 1920 and growing for...

    Azalea japonica

naoki, R. camtschaticum or the closely related R. glandulosum would work fine for you. Although I've never lived in such a cold climate, reports indicate -50 F without trouble...

    paph rod. mcclellan three star

Paph. Rod McClellan is Sheerline x Golden Acres, a nice yellow-green from notable parents. It was first registered by McClellans, which operated as an orchid nursery in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the 1970s; the grex was more recently remade by Hillsview in the early 2000s. Your clone...

    No id Paph

Maybe best bet is a Ratcliffe registration, or at least English registration...EYOF did some of this breeding and it might be from Ratcliffe from them...like Robin de Valec. Got a time frame for this? When your friend got it, etc...

    No id Paph

Pretty sure it's delenatii x complex; the two most common are Rootin Tootin (x Winston Churchill) and Tree of Flamingo (x Mildred Hunter). More info on where the pictured plant came from geographically might help with ID.

Thanks for your comments. It's not mine, and I wasn't there for judging. As a judge I'm not really permitted to comment. I'm just interested in what everyone has to say about it.
