Dot, this is the second mounted Maxillaria I own—the other one is Maxillaria uncata. All my other Maxillaria are growing in net pots in sphagnum moss.

Hello Ozpaph, I had no preference. This is how it came from the vendor. Lately I have seen more smoothed wood mounts on eBay.
From an aesthetic point of view I prefer cork. The texture of cork is very appealing.

At one time this plant was named “Christonella”. This plant is grown in bright shade, warm to hot. It needs to be consistently hydrated allowing to dry out between watering. Plenty of fresh, moving air.
My orchid society is planning on carpooling and attend on Saturday, 09/23/17! This is always a fun event and very informative.

Yes it does seem a lot of effort for one day of work. But I think it is challenging me to get it to grow more pseudobulbs so that the number of pseudobulbs will provide a bouquet.

Hello Naoki. Longer than that. This flower showed signs of opening one afternoon. By the next morning it was fully opened. But by 4pm that afternoon it turned red, and slowly started shriveling by night fall--so 8am-5pm?

Furan, especially the ones closest to the primary specie seem to bloom twice a year. My Nishidemiyako bloomed very early Spring 2017, and now it is setting up another bloom that will probably flower early October. I do not have any idea what causes reblooming.

I don't think there are any larger Minmaru shima. This is their size. However there are regular Nagoran that are variegated.
