    Tamiami festival best days

Ive only been to the Tamiami festival once on the first day and loved it. Unfortunately all the orchids I bought from the festival last year became an expensive salad for my bunny that jumped up on the counter and ate them all... lol what a bastard he can be. Was upset for literal days after...

    Phrag air circulation?

I got a small fan constantly blowing air to the side of my growing zone (windowsill), but it seems like it dries the plant too fast or the plant leaves are moving too much. Do I need the fan when I have a ceiling fan always running nearby? Is the drying out faster beneficial? What do you...

    Schlimii Spike death?

I cut both off earlier, the spike was definitely dead :/ Oh well, as long as the plant grows happily from now on I will be happy Luckily, my Elizabeth March that I also just bought will still bloom

    Schlimii Spike death?

I just bought this Schlimii from a festival from the Ecuagenera stand. It was ready to bloom and looked really healthy. The only problem I had was that it was in pure sphagnum and it seemed old. I didnt water it for two days because the sphagnum just would not dry, but I repotted it and it was...

    Phragmipedium Pots

Are you using the really porous clay pots or those nice dense stoneware pots? I don't have problems with the dense clay pots without pores, only the ones that hold in moisture. It's sad because I quite like earthen goods, but I'm beginning to appreciate plastic pots, especially with naughty cats...

    Phragmipedium Pots

I discovered after many tries that I cant use clay for any plants that like water. All except my succulents end up with a mold growing on the outside. Something about indoors in florida will not allow me to grow anything without mold growing on the pots. Outdoors are fine though, I will take...

    Phragmipedium Pots

Tyrone, how do you deal with the phrag roots in a pot like that? Do they ever grow out of the basket? Do they get stuck when trying to repot? Do you sit them in water? I may try these pots in the future

Need help/odd phrag spots turning transparent

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've heard that it is a lot of things, but it isn't spreading and I believe the spots have been there for a long time. I haven't touched the plant with any fungicides, only a quick alcohol rub. The spots are not soft and feel the same as the rest of the plant, the only...

    Phragmipedium Pots

I have had issues with tipping on mainly Phalaenopsis pots because of the large leaves weighing down one side. And the lightweight bark medium does not help hold it down especially when dry. What I found helps is to just get some river rock and put a few heavy pebbles on the bottom of the pot to...

    Phragmipedium Pots

Thanks for the heads up, rich! I just ordered some aircone pots anyways just so that I can see them in person. I’ll probably still try to to use them, since I like the look and function, but I can see the struggle of repotting them... lol About McConkey, I found some decent pots online...

    Phragmipedium Pots

Thanks guys I think I may decide to go with the Rand’s aircone pots since they seem to be quite good for phrags and come in a variety of sizes, so upgrading them to larger pots should be easy! I like consistency, so all my pots looking the same would make me happy :) Besides, it would...

    Phragmipedium Pots

I'm a watcher of Ed's Orchids and he uses "rose pots" for his phrags. I found these pots ( https://elixirgardensupplies.co.uk/product/deep-rose-pots-12347-litre-quality-plastic-plant-pot/) , but no matter where I find them, they only ship to the UK and nearby. I live in the states and want...

Need help/odd phrag spots turning transparent

Heres a better photo now that its in better lighting. I can see the vesicles of the leaf now when backlit and its has that oddly straight line separating healthy tissue from not healthy. This is the largest spot, but there are littler spots on almost every other leaf on the plant

Need help/odd phrag spots turning transparent

Hey, Ray, Thanks for the reply. How should I apply -a fungicide/bacteriacide to my phrag? Should I just spray the leaves or soak the whole plant? I also have a confession.. im using really crappy miracle gro fir bark and I think it was already decomposing because Im now seeing some white mold...
