    I haven't tried any club mosses,,,, but i still maintain, if you can get live sphagnum that seems to work very well... and has been proven by orchid people.... heck we have all used it dry just because of its properties...

    As someone may have mentioned earlier, there are a few companies, selling Tissue cultured moss species, which are by far the way to go, unless you know someone that is actually growing "clean" plants. I have worked hard to start with properly named species, but so often in the aquarium world...

    JAVA MOSS!! interesting.. While i have been in orchids quite a long time.. i too am an avid aquarist (just broke down 3 dozen tanks this past spring, so down to about 65 aquariums) yeah i am a tank hoarder..... so I do play a lot with growing many many aquatic plants, emersed and immersed...

    Ray= i have done some tests where i take "old used" diatomite, that has been soaked, washed and set out in the sun to dry for an extended period then put in a container of nuetral water and soaked for a period, then, ran some simple tests, that didn't show much in the results.... i grow a lot...

    on this topic though - curious,,,, what ever happened to Diatomaceous rock?? I still have some from a number of years ago, where i picked a bunch up from a place up near Buffalo NY. it is inert and tends to wick water from below, a very suitable product for those playing with hydroponic...

    Skoester: my understanding is that they did in fact record the talks but i think you have to be registered to have access to the recordings.. and not sure when they are sending out links to the regd peeps.

    NY eric Oh my god there were besseae flasks everywhere!!!!! couple selling for $25 bucks for flask with 20 seedlings...... You better move it....... :o) Mwa ha ha...... no no bessys but there were some decent deals.. and the talks were good...

    Really sad that we only found out just now (jan 9th) for events vendors Equagenera's deadline for orders was Jan 5..... (will contact them directly but not so warm and fuzzy about that) haven't checked the others..., but I will do so....
