Paph. Greenteaicecreamandrasberries = P. Constant Love 'Mama Mia' x P. malipoense 'Green Light' from Orchids Limited. What are the parents of Constant Love?

Eric-

Weather is lovely today--clear and high about 50degf.

Heather-

Is there some kind of listing of these hybrids? Thanks.

Very Pretty. Someday I will own one of these. I have admired this one for a long while.

Robert Q, their hybridizer, named this purposely to have the longest name possile without spaces per current RHS rules.

For those w/o WildCatt, OrchidWiz, or eAOS, that RHS search engine is spiffy! Free! It is picky about pod and pollen parents, so be sure to try both ways in parentage searches (it'll remind you if you don't get any hits). Perfect enough for those that don't care about awards etc and just need to find names and parents. Certainly worthy of a bookmark!

In naming these hybrids, is the pod parent the first named and the pollen parent the second? Tewnty-nine letters = maximum name length--very interesting.

Typically, yes, the convention is to list mom first and dad second in orchid hybrids. It is best to keep them in order for the cross at hand not so much as to how they were registered since the pod parent has the potential to lend more traits to the progeny. You can see some huge differences in different examples of the same hybrid made 'in reverse'. Your flower might look different if the pod and pollen parents were swapped. Then again, might not. At times, it is crucial for the hybridizer to know which is which as certain greedy species (and hybrids) are better givers than receivers (or vice versa). Helps reduce failed attempts. OrchidWiz will show you this info.
