I had a nice trip to the neighboring reserve Aarnescht this morning, not my first one this year, but I went there today to look for Ophrys (gnats, bumblebees..). And, even if the weather was not too friendly (some rain, clouds), I found them :)!

Bumblebees:

Not too easy to find in the high grass:

I pictured about 30 of them:

Small beauties:

And gnats, even harder to find:

Interesting is that few weeks before they bloom, there is no chance to find them growing with very tiny leaves:

to be continued:

a few militaris(?) still in bloom:

Anacamptis pyramidalis colonies, easier to check because of color :):

and platanthera :

I really enjoyed the small trip, being most of the time very close to these tiny blooms with my macro. And just when I was leaving, a guided tour of +/- 20 people entered  ; so lucky me, to have been early :):) Jean

Looks like a nice trip. I went to the Eifel yesterday and I saw a lot of Orchids as well, hope I have the time to work through píle of photo's this week.
